Walking along Jonker Street, one would notice anold-fashioned temple called the Hokkien Huay Kuan Temple. This well restored clan house that belongs to the Hokkien (a dialect of the Chinese community) association is truly a banquet to the eye.
Hokkien Huay Kuan Temple showcases the wonders of Chinese architecture and handcraft. The symmetrical pillars carved with dragons and motifs of bold colours greet visitors upon arriving. Intricate carvings on the entrance door panels are the signature of olden day Chinese structure.
Visitors should stop by the temple during the visit at Jonker Street to pander in ancient Chinese architecture, customs and relics of the bygone days.
