The History and Ethnography Museum is situated in the vicinity of the famous Dutch Square of Melaka. The museum is located on the second floor the former Stadhuys of the Dutch colonial era, in front of the Queen Victoria Fountain and Tan Beng Seng Clock Tower.The History and Ethnography Museum is a museum not to be missed for history enthusiasts.

The History and Ethnography Museum in Melaka has two separate sections where visitors can explore. The first floor of the History and Ethnography Museum is dedicated to the history of Malacca in which a comprehensive display of the history of Melaka – from its founding father Prince Parameswara era in the 15th century, to the colonial era of Melaka, up to the independence of Federation Malaya in 1957, are presented to visitors via murals, articles, pictures, artefacts, etc.

In the ethnography section, visitors can experience the rich multi-cultural tradition of Melaka city through many relics, exhibits and collection of artefacts in the ethnography section of the History and Ethnography Museum. This section of the museum describes the various communities and societies that put together Malacca which includes the Malays, the Indian, the Chinese, the Portuguese, Baba Nyonya and the Chetti community.
