Jonker Street in Malacca is a panoply of things, old and new, all together, different sorts of stores create a sense of bonanza in this heritage street in the heart of Malacca. Anak Nyonya Restaurant @ Jonker Street shares the same inheritance of old Malacca, dishing out favourite local Nyonya dishes.
Anak Nyonya Restaurant has done plenty of ground work, the restaurant’s sister company that purveys foodstuff just next door has won the Guinness Books of Records by baking the biggest pineapple tart (a Nyonya style baked tart) in the entire world. This restaurant is settled in the beginning of Jonker Street, in adjacent to the Jonker Boutique Hotel.
At Anak Nyonya Restaurant, they serve, authentic Nyonya food. Beware, there tend to be a crowd during lunch and dinner time, weekdays or weekends. In Anak Nyonya Restaurant, it surprises us that they have more than ten seafood and fish dishes, in such a quaint restaurant. Madam Wee introduced us to their signature Nyonya dish – the “Ayam Buah Keluak” and “Ikan Asam Nanas”, namely, a chicken dish with black beans and spicy-sour fish with pineapples.
If you were looking for a twist, Anak Nyonya Restaurant @ Jonker Street serves delicate and delightful looking Nyonya glutinous rice cakes and Nyonya turmeric rice cakes.
